A front door to The Local Core
One persistent identity for each business, organization and place.
Each business, organization and place has one record and one public reference that stays the same on every destination that shows it. Corrections update that record; they never create a copy.
Organizations connect to each other and to places only through approved relationships. Unapproved or withdrawn relationships are not shown or counted.
Listed: the record exists. Claimed: an owner's claim was approved. Verified: a reviewer confirmed the record. Each status is separate, and one never implies the next.
Identity says which record this is. Verification says whether facts about it were checked. A record can have a stable identity without being claimed or verified.
The system requires the approving account to differ from the submitting account. That alone does not prove two different people reviewed it; independent human review is established only when separate people operate those accounts.
Identity is the first step of the Business Record Journey: one record is listed, may be claimed and verified, and is then shown on destinations that publish it.
Identity is a view of The Local Core's shared registry. This site owns no records of its own.
